Year 3 pupils and the Chaplaincy Team at St Joseph’s CVA in Market Harborough organised a Coffee and Cakes afternoon to raise funds for CAFOD’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal. They also sold cake and juice to their fellow pupils at breaktime.
Their fundraising efforts resulted in a fantastic £488! Thank you to everyone involved and all who generously donated their money.
The great news is that nationally the appeal total topped £3m last week. The Caritas family, including CAFOD, has supported 140,095 people to date with shelter supplies (tarpaulins, mats and blankets), food and kits for water, sanitation and hygiene. A further 2,601 people have been reached with medical and psychosocial care.
Caritas Nepal report: “You might expect a sense of hopelessness given the severity of loss, but we see an impressive spirit of self-recovery … This is a clear sign of their strength and courage, and their desire to get through this and move on. They have hope and we have hope for them. We’ll get through this.”
Thank you too to all those across the diocese who have donated to the appeal. Your on-going support is very much appreciated.
