Parish busy in support of CAFOD

St Edwards Display

Kicking off with a Pancake Evening on Shrove Tuesday, parishioners of St Edward the Confessor parish in Leicester have been very busy supporting CAFOD during Lent.

With a display in the parish hall illustrating the work of CAFOD around the world to inspire and encourage them, parishioners generously contributed more than £350 to the Lent Fast Day collection and many took CAFOD collecting boxes to use at home throughout Lent.

Just before Easter the parish held a Rich Man, Poor Man Supper. Five people whose names where drawn out of a hat, including lucky CAFOD Parish Volunteer Tim and his wife, enjoyed a sumptious 3 course meal while everyone else had to be content with soup and bread. As well as helping to increase understanding of those who go to bed hungry each night, this event raised over £100.

Our thanks got to Tim and all the members of the parish J&P group for organising the various activities and all those who contributed in any way.
