Students from Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby have been taking their production of Born For This, a portrayal of the Stations of the Cross which tells the story of Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection, out into the local community – and CAFOD has benefited. There was no charge to attend but donations for CAFOD were accepted at each performance.
Born For This is by a musical production developed by CJM Music. Twenty-five students from across the school have performed at venues including St Joseph’s Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Derby as well as at their own school.
Andy Clare, who is the chaplain at Saint Benedict CVA, said:
“This is the third year that we’ve done Born For This but it’s the first time we’ve taken it out on tour. It’s a musical reflection on the Stations of the Cross. It’s quite unusual because there are elements of a stage show and a musical in there but really it’s a prayer. It’s about finding a creative way to tell an old story.”
Many thanks to all those involved for giving their time and talents to support CAFOD’s work – and to all the audiences who gave their money!
