The average weekly wage of a footballer in the English Premier League is £22,353 while the average weekly wage for a worker in Brazil is £47.55.

Paulo, 16, lives in the community of Santo Amaro, in Recife, Northeast Brazil. He is a youth educator working with CAFOD’s partner Galpão. Football is helping to cut high levels of violence in his community. Young people are encouraged to play football instead of using or selling drugs.

We talk. We support them to stop using and selling drugs. Often they want a way out.”
