Members of the Justice and Peace Group in St Francis of Assisi Parish, Long Eaton took the climate justice message to the town carnival in June. They asked children and young people attending the carnival to add their hand outline to a banner containing the CAFOD campaign ask:

A fair and binding agreement at the United Nations that has poor communities at its heart and

  • recognises and supports the right to sustainable development of people in developing countries
  • provides additional, sufficient and secure funding and technical support from industrialised countries to help developing countries adapt to the impacts of climate change
  • commits industrialised countries to at least 30-40% cuts in greenhouse gas emissions by 20202, based on 1990 levels

There were plenty of campaign action cards available for the adults but most of them wanted to get in on the hand-drawing action too – even the Mayor!
